Description

I read that Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko would be visible from my location.  After a few hours of imaging other targets, I decided to give it a go.  Castor and Pollux rose high enough above the horizon about 0030hrs.  I used The SkyX Pro to find the comet and then linked a few shorts frames in image link.  Amazingly, I found it.  From the data I read the comet was in the neighborhood of mag 9.9, so rarely dim in my very large FOV.  As I usually do with comets I simply started shooting Lum 60 second frames.  I am pleased I was able to capture it this early and with this mono result.

It was , as usual, a satisfying adventure for me.Object Name: 67P/Churyumov-GerasimenkoObject Type: CometRA (Topocentric): 07h 42m 49.8s Dec (Topocentric): +26° 31' 59" RA (2000.0): 07h 41m 30.0s Dec (2000.0): +26° 35' 04" Azimuth:  76° 40' 51" Altitude: +29° 54' 26" Magnitude: 9.95Rise Time: 22:10Transit Time: 05:36Set Time: 12:58Hour Angle: -04h 42m 07s Air Mass: 2.01Earth Distance (au): 0.42Sun Distance (au): 1.21RA Rate (arcsecs/sec): 0.037296Dec Rate (arcsecs/sec): 0.001946Date: 11/7/2021Time: 12:50 AM DSTConstellation: Gemini
